China!

So yesterday I finished my exams! Yippee. I'm actually quite bored now. Four months off with nothing to do. Nothing to do? That's a complete lie of course. I think I have too much to do. In less than two weeks I will be in China! Oh yes. Here's a photo of me in China with a fellow 'deliverer' wearing our mega cool Chinese hats and with two random Chinese children who thought we were famous or something... Taken just as we were walking down from the Great Wall (which really is awesome btw).

I am excited about going to China again for many reasons. One of the major reason is three weeks eating Chinese food! Another photo... Taken in a restaurant in Beijing.

Like does anyone know what Beer Duck is?

Fold up bikes, Sufjan and General This and That

So I have lost much of the enthusiasm I had for this thing a couple of weeks ago hence no posts. But I will prevail! Actually I've been somewhat surprised by the number of people who actually bothered to look at it!

So first up I think I should round up the train saga. So the weekend before last weekend I went home and everything actually went smoothly which was nice so no excitement there. However there was a guy on the train with a fold up bike. Seriously it was awesome. He just carried it on. Then he carried it off. Then he unfolded it and rode off. I want one! Where can you buy these? I could carry my bike into lectures and everything. Oh the possibilities!

Actually been discovering many things of interest lately. Like Sufjan Stevens! Now apparently everyone has been listening to this guy for ages. I heard him ages ago and just dismissed him as not my thing. Then out of nowhere I am in possession of four of his albums so I give him a listen. Wow. Second listen to Seven Swans and I was hooked. This guy is genius! His music cannot be described. So I urge you, if you were like me and suffering Sufjan deficiency check him out. Now! Haven't been this excited about new music since getting into Relient K. Good times.

So what else is new and exciting. Ha wouldn't you like to know... Oh watch my bebo video. The making of Switchfoot's video for Awakening. Its all quite incrediable.

16 days till I leave for China!
4 days till no exams...

Hearse?

I seen a horse drawn hearse today. Thought that was worth talking about... I've never seen one before and it was all black and was being pulled be two big, really black horses and it all looked rather frightening. Actually felt fear. It brought back memories of that film Darby O'Gill and the Little People which terrified me when I was much younger. If you haven't seen it, it is a movie set in Ireland involving quite a few leprechauns. How scary does that sound?

Anyway such small things must seem much more exciting and interesting when you are stuck in your room all day calculating the inertia tensor of a system rotating about some random axis and the likes...

Another Train Story

I got on the train today as normal and unlike normal the train failed to move for about 20mins. I had no idea what was going on till we pulled away and I seen two police officers with a guy in cuffs. They had obviously arrested him on the train which I thought was rather exciting. I also felt regret at missing such an episode because I was in the wrong part of the train.

Now on its own this incident maybe isn't anything too special. But when you consider that in just over a week I have missed two trains, been on a broken down train and failed to get the right train ending up in Bangor (none of which has happened to me before) it makes me look to next weekend with much anticipation and a certain amount of fear. I'll keep you posted...

Fridays Train, My Earphones (yes its very random) and Third Day

I got the train to Bangor on Friday. I was trying to get to Ballymena. Didn't realise my mistake till I got to Bangor West (who knew such a place existed?) where I promptly got off and caught the next train right back to Belfast. (Where I then had to wait over an hour for the next train to Ballymena which would then break down and leave us sitting stationary on the line for 30mins.)

So I thought I would take this opportunity to tell you about my headphones as it was because I was listening to music I failed to hear the announcement saying I should change trains at Central. So my headphones are Sennheiser CX300 Ear Canal Headphones and I bought them off Amazon a few months ago for about £16. And they are awesome! Hence why I'm writing about them. Geeky I know.

So why are they so good. Well they are in-ear headphones. Hence they fit right inside your ear much like ear buds. This has a number of advantages. Firstly they are very comfy and never fall out unlike normal earphones. They sound fantastic! The bass is surprisingly amazing and they just sound great in general. They also block out a lot of noise. This has many advantages but can also be quite dangerous. I have stepped out in front of cars, nearly walked into a burning building (ok it wasn't actually burning but the very LOUD fire alarm was going and everyone had cleared out and I was stopped from going in) and failed to change trains as already mentioned.

The best bit of course is the price. These are mega cheap for what you get. I have heard some top quality headphones (Bose etc.) and I recon these are just as good and at a tenth of the price. So there you go. Buy buy buy! Though not from eBay cause apparently there have been a lot of fakes going about.

Anyways enough geeky stuff that no one really cares about. I randomly went to see Third Day on Thursday night. I hadn't a ticket. Just kinda turned up and hoped for the best. Bought a ticket from some random guy in the ridiculously long queue. So Third Day. Never really been a huge fan of their studio stuff. I think its good like but just not really what I'm into. Live though they were great. They do put on a good show. Not amazing but great all the same. However I always get confused at christian gigs. Never sure if the bands are performing or worshipping. Maybe both. Is that possible? Third Day weren't as performy as some other christian bands but they were still like yes we're all here to worship God and then play songs that no one knows the words to or can make out the vocals. Maybe I should read a book on the matter...

My first post! How exciting... Decided to make a blog as its revision time and this just seemed more fun. No idea what I'm going to put here or if anyone will ever even see this but hey why not.
